To migrate your emails and mailboxes to HostMaria - Cloud, you can use our email migration tool . This tool will allow you to migrate your IMAP mailboxes , Gmail and Outlook to vertigohost.
To do so:
- Log in to cp.global-dns.com
- Select the package you want to migrate your emails to via Manage hosting .
- Select the Email Migration tool found in the emails section.
- Enter the corresponding credentials and then select Sync .
- Hostname : This will be the hostname of the mail server you are syncing your emails from. If you do not know it, we recommend asking your previous hosting provider.
- Username : this will be the mailbox you are syncing.
- Password : This will be the mailbox password at your previous hosting provider and for the newly created mailbox on vertigohost. Note that you will first need to set up the mailboxes with the same password you currently use.
- If the sync does not start, it is probably because the credentials are incorrect. Before requesting assistance, verify that the password and hostname are correct.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use the email migration tool more than once for the same mailbox?
Yes, you can use it as many times as you like. If you recently changed the MX records and mail is now routed to vertigohost, to get the latest mail from the previous server you can simply migrate the mailbox again. This way, only new emails will be migrated, avoiding duplicates.
Does the email migration tool move or copy the emails?
The email migration tool copies the emails and folders to vertigohost, so no email is "deleted" from your old mail server/mailboxes.
Can I only migrate one mailbox at a time?
Yes, only one mailbox migration can be run at a time per package.
Where can I find my hostname?
Your previous web hosting provider will be able to tell you the hostname. You can try mail.yourdomain.com, as it is a common hostname.
