What is domain propagation?

DNS propagation defines the process of updating information across the Internet. There are two forms of DNS propagation: the first consists of changes made to the DNS zone and the second of changes made to the WHOIS information.

A change to your DNS zone generally affects only a few servers and is the fastest change. A change affecting your WHOIS information can take up to 72 hours to propagate.

After a domain is registered or transferred, there will be a period during which your domain will not be visible. This is because millions of servers need to be updated with the new information. Your website may remain inaccessible for up to 48 hours
